I, Drake Murphy, am a student at Heritage High School who lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina with my parents, young sister, two cats, and a dog. I was born in Clearwater, Florida and moved to North Carolina in 2003. I am planning on being a member of Heritage High School Engineering Club. However, I have also considered the Astronomy and Speech and Debate Club. I have also participated and had been an active member of FFA during my Freshman year. My High School, Heritage High School, is a large school at about 2,200 currently enrolled, and is stationed in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Heritage High School is claimed to be one of the best public schools in it’s area. As of my Junior year, I have a 4.0 GPA and hope to continue that trend. I have spent close to 48 hours voluntarily chopping wood for people who use wood burning stoves and furnaces within the community at my Church, St. Catherine of Siena. Before the controversy of the organization rose, I helped my dad raise money for the Wounded Warriors Project.

My interests include: Engineering (specifically Chemical, Material, Computer, and Aeronautical), Speech and Debate about theology, philosophy, and politics, and History. I also have an interest in Physics and plan on taking AP Physics I and II in my Senior year to help advance my knowledge for my college education. I also work part-time in my Dad’s home repair business doing anything from simple fixes to complex jobs. As of now, I am proficient in AutoCAD AutoDesk and SketchUp, able to draw complex shapes and designs.

Before I go to college, I am enrolling (in the summer of my Junior year) in an Engineering program at NC State to get hands on experience with the many different types of careers I can chose from in that career cluster. I plan to go to Wake Tech to get my Associates in Science and then transferring to NC State for one of the four types of engineering I am interested in, I hope for a steady income in the future with a job that I can enjoy but I haven't decided whether or not I want a family. However, I have considered the possibility of a career in the United States Air Force as an engineer out of college.
